You’re enjoying yourself during vacation, soaking up the sun, laughing and having a great time! But all of a sudden, your paradise is now coming to an end. You come to an uncomfortable realization: it’s time to go back to work soon!
We can all relate to feeling a type of sadness after coming back from a fun retreat.
We think about that "office job" we have to go back to and the grieving begins. Have you ever had these feelings after vacation? Well, I definitely have, and the reason why is because I knew I was coming back to a life I didn’t resonate with or feel aligned with. When I was going on vacation after college, I always knew I wanted to figure out a way to be free.
For me, my fun retreats include going to music festivals all over the country. I've been to the biggest festivals known to man, including Ultra Music Festival in Miami, TomorrowWorld Festival in Georgia, and Electric Forest Music Festival in Michigan. No matter how fun the experience was when it was time to head back home I wasn't excited for what I was coming back to.
I was still working at my office job during this time. I knew after vacation was over that I’d have to go right back into my cubicle all day, and that alone made me depressed. I told myself enough is enough, and I began taking action towards unlocking my purpose. I came to find out that I was seeking the freedom to be my own boss and make my own income.
Fast forward 5 years and I can now go to any event I want to.
And better yet, I come home happy and eagerly ready to get back to the grind. Why? Because I built a life I love through freelancing.
When you do this, you build a life that is actually exciting to come back to after vacation is over. So many people are living for the weekend and trying to escape their reality.
People numb themselves with alcohol or by sitting in front of the TV for hours. The sad truth is that these people are throwing away their potential with all of these distractions. Why would you want to keep distracting yourself from living your dream? Here’s a mindset shift, You can create your own reality. You are the artist holding the paintbrush to your life.
You are in charge of making your life an enjoyable experience and not just fun when you’re on that vacation. It all starts with awareness, then putting action steps behind it.
People who are not aligned with their purpose will book vacations as a distraction from the stress of their daily life routine. You know the ones that spend every penny of their paycheck to go to EDC Vegas? With the hashtag #BookFlightsNotFeelings
Only to come back and be in a worse place, financially, spiritually, physically, and emotionally than when they left in the first place!
Every time that vacation ends the temporary happiness is gone.
While going on a vacation can be very rewarding, it is even more rewarding coming back home to a life you have created. That's exactly what I did and why I am sharing this with you. Freelancing has provided me with a sense of purpose and the financial, personal, and professional freedom that I was after.
By mastering skills that are in-demand, you will be in control of your life, be able to take a vacation on your own time, and live a life where you don’t need to escape from.
Freelancing gives you the capability to remove all the restrictions that don’t need to be there. To me, making a profitable income for my family while in return providing my clients with great value is a win-win situation.
What could possibly be better than working for yourself, being there for your loved ones, and creating a life you are passionate about?
In my opinion, there’s nothing more freeing than that and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
